If there’s one thing you can count on when it comes to pets is that they like—well, being pet. It’s right there in the name. But whether you are dealing with a Golden Retriever who noses their snout under your hands to get some physical affection, or a kitty who won’t stop head butting you until you scratch them behind their ears, animals have no trouble telling you when—and how—they’d like to be pet.

Take this orange cat, who not only loves to be pet, but has decided that the family’s Theragun massaging device is a toy for his own personal enjoyment. Every time someone turns it on—anywhere in the house—he comes running to claim some massage time.

Mac is an orange cat living the good life with his family in West Hollywood, California. And though he’s spoiled utterly rotten, when it comes to the massage gun, he takes it to the next level. No matter where they go in the house, the second he hears the machine turn on, he comes running and insists on getting a turn.

In this video, you can see him enjoying the Theragun with a smile so big on his face that there can be no mistaking it.

BRB, about to buy my cat a massager.

I’m not the only person who was amazed to see how much the cat liked this device.

“I feel like the ancient Egyptians would’ve loved this,” said one person in comments

“He's had a hard day, okay?” said another. “He deserves a little self care.”

Others drop their own stories about how much their kitties love massagers, and how they have to hide in the bathroom to use theirs in order to avoid having to massage the cat as well.

But others warn that massage guns aren’t safe for pets and should only be used by those who know what they are doing.

The instructions on this gun says it’s not for use on animals. The intensity, shape, and pressure was designed for humans so unless you’re careful, you may end up damaging your pet. Those who wish to use their massage gun on their cat (or those with cats who refuse wholeheartedly to get out of the way) should turn the power down to the absolute minimum and be careful about where on the cat’s body they are placing the machine. Cats are tiny, delicate creatures with fragile skin and much smaller bones, and can be hurt by these machines unless their people are extremely careful with how they use them.

A better option is to learn how to do real pet massage. Massage can be a great benefit to sore joints and muscles for both humans and animals, and learning what kind of treatments are good for your pet and that your pet can handle can be both an excellent bonding experience and a great help for your pet’s health, especially as they get older. There are many methods by which pet lovers can learn to make their pet comfortable—both with machines and without.
